Vinted Shoppers Express Anger About Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Stories
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
