Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the main group to embark on their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

First, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants retribution.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the group access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The cleric defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Explorers and Strategists parties.

Fans can look forward to finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
